Tara Watterson, M.S., is a communication researcher, strategist, and teacher.
My mission is to develop communication solutions using data to inform strategy and research to evaluate results. My curiosity and drive to develop more tools for problem solving led me to the University of Kentucky, where I am teaching and studying to earn my Ph.D. in communication. My studies currently focus on improving communication to increase performance and outcomes among healthcare and social sector organizations, particularly cross-sector and interorganizational collaborations. I have also researched how communication about health and addiction can be improved. My research has been published in peer reviewed journals such as Health Communication. I have collaborated on research with organizations such as UK HealthCare, University Health Center at NC State, Beacon House Recovery Home, and others. Before earning my master’s degree in communication at NC State University in 2015, I worked for three years with grassroots nonprofit organizations. This experience led to my desire to affect higher-level change using data and research.
I live with my husband and three cats in Lexington, KY, where you’ll find 30+ flavors of hot tea in my kitchen cabinet.
